SISU Data Center
A prized advantage of SISU membership is our recently upgraded state-of-the-art data center. Modeled after those used by national corporations, our data center ensures maximum security and redundancy while taking steps to protect our environment.
Data Center Highlights
State-of-the-art Microsoft Windows servers. These servers authenticate users for access to all network resources including file and print services, Internet access, and e-mail.
Hardware and data redundancy. Two EMC Symmetrix Storage Arrays provide unprecedented system availability as well as data redundancy. Data from one storage array is copied to the other array multiple times each day providing recovery points in the event of disaster.
Online backups. Meditech software backups are "Serverless," meaning they are run from one of the storage array copies. This ensures that backup operations do not impact the production environment. A complete copy is written daily to tape using an IBM tape library system. Tape backups are then rotated off-site using a 3rd party bonded records storage company.
High Density/redundant air conditioning. A newly installed Liebert XD cooling system provides high density cooling at the smallest cost to the environment. Capable of providing 47 tons of air conditioning, the Liebert XD cooling system is refrigerant based and highly efficient. Additionally, four 5-ton air conditioning units maintain proper humidity in the room and are ready to provide cooling in the case of an XD failure.
Dual Power Paths. Power is provided to all data center equipment via two separate power paths. Each path consists of a 500kW Cummins Diesel generator, 300kVa UPS, and two 120kW Flywheels. The fly wheels use the acceleration of a rotor to a very high speed to create inertial energy that is maintained in the system, eliminating the use of lead acid batteries. Having two separate paths allow continuous runtime even during equipment maintenance or failure.
Monitoring. The Data Center and electrical rooms are monitored 24 x 7 by multiple products, capable of e-mailing, text messaging and voice calling staff in the event of any system disruption or abnormality.
Fire Protection. The Data Center is protected by an Inergen fire suppression system. This environmentally-friendly, people-safe agent boasts ZERO ozone depletion potential, ZERO global warming potential, and ZERO atmospheric lifetime.[i] The electrical room is protected by a 3MTM NovecTM 1230 fire suppression agent and a VESDA smoke detection system. NovecTM has earned numerous awards including "Product of the Year" from Plant Engineering Magazine, "Coolest Invention" from TIME Magazine, and "Best of What's New" from Popular Science.[ii]
Security. Access to the Data Center requires badge identification as well as a biometric scan thereby limiting access to authorized personnel only.
